Vermont Lottery Director resigns position to pursue another opportunity in the Midwest

The Vermont Lottery Commission (VLC) announced today the resignation of Executive Director, Greg Smith, effective October 14th. Smith is pursuing another opportunity after running Vermont's Lottery for over four years.

During Smith's tenure, Vermont Lottery sales and profits have grown by almost 20%, resulting in over $26M being contributed to Vermont's Education Fund in the last fiscal year.  VLC Board Chairperson, Martha O'Connor, said, "We are sorry to see Greg go but understand his decision. The Board has had a strong working relationship with him and wish him success in his new position."

Smith added, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years working with the VLC Board and Lottery staff.  It makes me sad to think about leaving but I do not want to pass up this other offer. I hope my successor is able to reach the same satisfaction that I did in this job."

The Vermont Lottery Commission will begin a search for a new Executive Director and work closely with the remaining management team to ensure the smooth operation of the lottery continues.
