Mega Millions ticket, worth $5 million, sold in Vermont

Barre store sells winning ticket
Vermont Lottery officials announced today that there was a $5 million winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Vermont in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing. The winning prize ticket was sold at Brookside Country Store located in Barre.

The ticket matched 5 out of 5 numbers for the $1 million second prize but included the Megaplier multiplier which raised the winning ticket’s value to $5 million. The numbers drawn for the estimated annuitized jackpot of $52,000,000 were 2-43-52-62-63 and 6 for the Megaball. The Megaplier multiplier was 5.

The holder(s) of the winning ticket had not come forward at press time.

Jeff Cavender, speaking for the Vermont Lottery, noted that though Vermont has never had a jackpot winner in Mega Millions “having a high tier prize winner of this size is amazing. The extra dollar spent for the Megaplier gained this lucky ticket holder an extra $4 million. It’s great for our players and agents.”

Friday’s Mega Millions (8/19/2016) jackpot has an estimated annuitized value of $61,000,000.
